The Gael Force Club

Former head coach Bob Carnegie started the Men’s Varsity Hockey Alumni Club in the 1980s, called the Gael Force Club. Bob played at Queens during the 50s and 60s and coached the team in the late 60s and early 70s.

In the 90s Dale Sandles a former player (80s) and assistant coach (90s) took over the club and acted as the “President”. The mandate of the club was to assist the team with fund raising, organize an annual “Old Boys Weekend” – usually in February of each season – and to keep up the team photo gallery that was located on the concourse level of the Jock Harty Arena.

In 1997, Dave Descent (Manager 68-72) returned to Kingston and took over as the “President” and worked with the club and the team until 2005. Subsequent to that time; the coaches – Kirk Muller and Brett Gibson have done their best to keep the club going.

With the threat of potential budget cuts comming from the University, Descent has gotten together with Murray Douglas (Player 68-72), Former Coach Tim Cunningham (94-05), Current Coach Brett Gibson, and Assistant Coach Andrew Haussler to raise the profile of the team and getting Alumni more involved to help it grow and prosper.
